Argilla Sonora:  Atelier Project

We embarked on a collaborative and experimental journey around sound, asking ourselves: What can happen along the path of sound clay?

Traces, cracks, fissures, impacts, silences… reveal themselves in the ways we relate to the material. Each interaction transforms us in a different way. Clay can become "fog"-Fiero- when it turns to dust, or "glass" -Indiana- with its own sound and texture. And what happens to us when we come into contact with it?

How does our own soundscape shift in this exchange? How does the soundscape each of us carries within feed on this collective experience we are building in the Atelier?

Along this exploration—after drumming on clay in its many states and listening to each other’s murmurs—Molly excitedly says, “A mini concert!” Later, Lewis adds, “I want to have a band when I grow up!”
And suddenly, the soundscapes we all carry begin to interconnect, forming ensembles that fill the room. They mix, they recognize each other, they transform.

Pause…!

Listen.!
Ahh… Space is full of onomatopoeias, metaphors, and new forms of expression.

As we continue, the project is opening itself to new interactions with other materials, inviting us to discover how they sound, vibrate, and dialogue with the clay. We are also in the process of constructing more ceramic instruments, expanding the possibilities for musical exploration in the Atelier.

These are traces of what is happening: sounds, images, and videos that we invite you to explore.
