Translation is an under-appreciated art. How many times have we heard variations on Its easy - just translate the words? But good translation - any translation - is much more than that. At every step of the process, the translator is faced with multiple choices that can affect the reader's enjoyment and understanding of the text. Translation is an art. It is as creative as the original writing process itself.
Join our panel discussion, moderated by translator Anna Foschi, as translators from three European languages - Lithuanian, Yiddish, and Italian - read from their works and discuss some of the translation challenges they have encountered.
The session will be followed by book sales and light refreshments.
